Women of Wearables' Marija Butkovic,  Encouraging More Women In Tech

It is no secret that the tech industry is a male dominated profession and encouraging more women to join is a big task. However, thanks to the work of inspiring female leaders such as Marija Butkovic, there is more support for women in tech than ever before.

Marija, who was selected as one of the Most Influential Women in UK tech in 2017 by Computer Weekly, is working to support, connect and mentor women in wearable tech, fashion tech, IoT and VR/AR through her company Women of Wearables. She believes that women can do anything they put their mind to and technology is no different.

If you really want something, you’ll find a way to do it. Women are built to be strong, that’s just the way we are. — Marija Butkovic, Huffington Post

Butkovic’s belief that more women in tech can make drastic changes in the face of the industry has led her to become the frontrunner of that change. From the original idea that the lack of style in most wearable technology was the result of the lack of female designers to the general notion that more women in technology would also increase the diversity of ideas and the quality of most tech products out there, she is a leader to look out for.

The Startups & Business, Work & Career, and Technology groups on Shello provide women with a safe space to ask others for help, advice and seek knowledge around any challenge they might face. So we feel very close to Butkovic’s belief and are working towards the same goal.
