When we first sat down to talk about Shello, what we knew was that it was going to be a product that would make a difference for women and would make it easier for them to connect and find support.
With smart, ambitious women at the centre of our product, we knew that we wanted a strong name but something feminine, something that we could build a brand around and that our users could get behind.
There is usually the point in the process of brainstorming a name where you need to take a step back and re-focus on what the product is about. Then it came to us, women connecting with other women.. “It all starts when she says hello. She + hello = Shello”.
And we found a happy coincidence, that “shello” is actually already used as a casual greeting in the States so the variation is not unheard of. And, when deciding how to pronounce the name (shell-o, like jell-o) we also loved that the word “shell” was part of it because we wanted to create a safe space where women were able to come out of their shell and feel comfortable enough to ask for any help and advice they needed.
So, where can this lead? Well, the sky is the limit. But it all starts with a simple hello… or if you prefer, shello!
